Spring cleanse time...
It's time for a spring cleanse. Phil said it's a really good time of year to do it, and so did the scales, my body in general, energy level all feel a bit sluggish. 'October was a bit of an emotional month for personal reasons. It's time for a spring cleanse. Phil said it's a really good time of year to do it, and so did the scales, my body in general, energy level all feel a bit sluggish. Milestones
Maria from Auckland: 10 kilo’s YASSSSS! It’s taken much longer than I first expected but what has become my mantra these last 6 months and the reason I now know why it takes a long time, GUT MICROBIOME. I get it now, as you have heard a few times. That’s the difference - slow weight loss whilst the gut goes through change. There are the typical spring ads everywhere for “quick weight loss for the summer”, “drop those unwanted kilos for the beach” or “get that bikini bod in on
9kgs down, but sleep an issue...
It has been quite a few weeks since my last blog, this has been a very busy time with work. I have noticed that by the third week the extra workload has started to take its toll on my sleeping patterns. I am either falling into bed at 8pm and sleeping until 6am or not getting much sleep at all. So my consultation with Philip this week was about focusing on normalizing sleep patterns. On his advice I’m going to get some herbs and bach flowers tomorrow to get some support as I
New clothes needed
It's been a busy time again, so much so that I haven't got to weigh in this week. My first time of missing a session with Phil and I have missed touching base. I find the regular contact is great, I can talk through what is going on for me and get guidance and support. In the past I have relied on friends and of course they have their own experiences and perceptions which isn't already right for everyone, because as Phil has taught me everybody's body is different. I so get t
Winter Sniffles and Personal Triumphs
A really great session with Phil. I am celebrating a few personal triumphs. According to Phil my reduction in appetite is a sign that my gut is healing. I was explaining that my appetite has reduced significantly and even when I get really hungry it doesn’t take much food to make me feel satisfied and full. The great thing is that these results are showing on the scales, I have had a steady weight-loss over the last few sessions and have reached my first personal weight mile
Listing the benefits so far...
It’s well in now and I am still sticking to the program and feeling great. Two things I have never experience before on any other program. I feel that the changes to my diet and lifestyle have now become permanent simply because they are easy to follow and fit my lifestyle and me. In discussing this with Phil he explained that the Naturopathic approach is completely individualized, looking at what diet and lifestyle is right for each individual rather than a one glove fits a
New Routines, new work colleagues, and new rules
My apologies, this blog is so overdue, it’s because I have a new position in a new company. What this has meant is the travel has become the new routine. Since my last visit to Phil I have taken on board all of his recommendations regarding new routines and being very aware of when I am not sticking to the program. Since the last blog I have lost 2 kg. I know fantastic hey…Yay! That is because I just kept on the program and kept up with my appointments with Phil. It has m
Maria's Journey: Disrupted Routines
Since my last blog life got busier, I had to travel for a contract with a new company overnight so my routine changed dramatically. The program went out of the window, which left me feeling really disappointed with myself. While I didn’t eat unhealthily, the company provided a lovely variety of healthy food I didn’t eat regularly, as Phil has urged, regularity is the key for me. I didn’t get my water intake and I didn’t inform the company that I am gluten and dairy intoler
Maria's journey: looking for the 'perfect poo'
My last session with Phil revealed that I have lost another 1.3 kilo’s – YAY! The weight seems to be steadily coming down now and my health is just getting better and better. There are three noticeable changes: Perfect poos, this seems to be any Naturopath or Nutritionist’s favourite subject, as a result of Phil’s seminar on gut microbiome. Now I know why.I had always heard that a healthy bowel empties two to three times a day. After being so sick, as described in my first
Maria's Journey: Lightbulb moments
So I got the munchies on Monday afternoon whilst working (downside to working from home), I hadn’t been shopping yet, and all I could find in the fridge was an organic carrot. Really unimpressed I phoned a friend. It was a good move, my friend suggested that I always keep an avocado and some hummus in the fridge, that way I can flavor up the carrot…great tip! I’m so glad that I went along to Phil’s seminar as a few light bulbs went on. It was quite a technical seminar about
